Anime’s Next Top Model C3 Epi2 – Intensity

It’s time for the second episode of Anime’s Next Top Model! After going on hiatus in order to finish our Fall Anime Preview, we’re back with twice the enthusiasm! We’re down to 14 contestants (seven bishounen and bishoujos). It’s now become clear just how easy it is to fall behind and ultimately get voted out of the competition. We’ll be sure to put everyone through hell so they’re worthy of becoming Anime’s Next Top Model! Let me remind you of our guidelines:

Yep, the second episode is finally HERE!!! We were busy with many things as usual so this went to the back burner but not for long! The last time we met, it was all about getting the first round of elimination and the results were quite shocking for some. This just goes to tell you how important your vote is for your favourite model! So, choose well, because you have only one week to do so! Oh also, don’t forget to float the awesome Anime NTM video~

EPISODE 02 CHALLENGE

The remaining contestants wait impatiently for Kyokai, Zabobinator and Overcooled to reveal the challenge. The silence is punctuated by excited whispers and nervous giggles. The scene is the epitome of the word ominous.

“First of all,” Kyokai begins, drawing everyone’s attention, “Congratulations on surviving the first round.” There is a small pause as the contestants clap and cheer. She pulls out an envelope and hands it to Overcooled who proceeds to rip it open with her teeth (since when did she have fangs?), showing everyone the sheet of paper inside.

“This week you will be performing a dance of sorts with a weapon of choice. Basically, you have to use weapon creatively and act out an imaginary fight scene…but still be sexy,” Zabobinator announces. Everyone is too caught up on thinking of what they will do to win rather than give any thought to the fact that Metanorn has quite the impressive assortment of weapons. It’s almost as if they were some sort of military faction…

The boys are the first to go and Rin Okumura doesn’t hesitate to bring out his own sword and wreck havoc. Amongst the blue flames is a special notice “THIS IS JUST CGI.” No really, he’s not the son of Satan or anything! Special effects are just really advanced these days! The fire extinguishers being used on the stage crew are just to add to the authenticity of the scene! Once all the “CGI” flames have dissipated, Sebastian is ushered on stage to make use of his amazing cutlery-handling skills. As per usual, he gives one hell of a performance. The judges choose to just silently dock him a couple marks though because, after all, he wasn’t told that using something you eat meatballs with was an odd choice for a weapon.

Date Masamune is up next with his 6 swords and with a cry of “LET’S ROCK!” he unsheathes all of his swords and starts tearing up the stage. Gintoki, waiting patiently at the side for his turn is accidentally caught up in the fray, his beloved Shounen Jump torn beyond repair in the process. Gintoki has had enough and a simple yelled insult is enough for Date to get mad and start attacking; thus starting yet ANOTHER battle on stage. Once the smoke clears, Date and Gintoki are neck to neck and deep in stage debris. Before something else breaks, the special crew comes in to get the still grimacing contestants off the stage. Everybody decides to just ignore the kyaaing Anaaga in the background…

Until Natsume appears on stage followed by his guardian Madara. Being the huge beast that he is, the stage is covered by the white fur and Natsume in full glory. Seems like, he’s becoming quite a natural. Though, without even Madara’s knowledge, Prince Baka uses a corner on his body to pose as if he’s lounging on a sofa. Of course, his good looks can’t be the only weapon that he needs to strut, getting some more points docked. The last in line is Barnaby, who uses his hero armour to full glory with power up and fixing some broken parts of the stage to the judges’ delight.

Despite being impressed with the performance, Overcooled is more than a little miffed at this point. “Guys, this isn’t a death match! You’re forgetting to pose and sell yourself as a MODEL!” she cries, scolding them heavily. The other two challenge overseers nod heartily, readjusting their hair from all the zooming around by Barnaby. She motions for the girls to go up, hoping they will show a bit more poise.

Saeko was the first to bounce on stage (as were her boobs), wielding a kendo sword. She knew how to smile and stay graceful, unlike the boys. She swayed gracefully from side to side (as did her boobs) and put on a real show. She really knows how to handle boo- a sword. Uh. NEXT.

Senjougahara brought out another unconventional weapon, calmly pointing a staple gun at the audience and firing different pencils and stationary without really doing any posing. Everyone managed to get out of the way in time, but only barely. I guess you can’t win two challenges in a row, huh? After Senjougahara is escorted offstage by Kyokai, Mami does her typical gun-toting routine. Unknowing audience members gape at how many guns fall out of that skirt. Zabobinator couldn’t quite find the words to express her feelings at the sight of a machine gun accidentally slipping out of one’s garments. Either way, Mami did a spectacular job and her blunder may have actually worked in her favor.

Fishing rod in hand, Nino stumbles on stage and waves it around haphazardly as if fishing. Just when she starts to look coordinated, the line suddenly hooks up and over the stage until the end of it disappears backstage. When she pulls it back, there is a…a…IS THAT A SHARK!?! Kyokai, what the hell do you keep backstage??!?!

The shark leaps for Mami’s head, and the camera suddenly goes fuzzy, the broadcast cutting off. When the show finally returns to normal, everyone is wet and exhausted. The shark has been dealt with and Mami’s head is intact; not to mention Nino poses with a normal sized fish, somehow very serious in her stance. A black aura surrounds the stage after this commotion and Sawako literally comes out of a well, reminding everyone something that they don’t want to. Before the judges are overwhelmed with the eerie hair-eating, Anaru enters the stage and follows on Saeko’s footsteps; however, without a weapon it becomes half-hearted. Anarchy Stocking ends the parade of intense shocks and lightening play.

And with that, Kyokai clears her throat to start announcing the winners.

“Good job guys. You showed us much intensity and…passion. Although you are bound as per our legal contact to pay for the damages caused once again, “ she continues after she gives them all a stern look, “the winners for this round are Date Masamune and Saeko for their extraordinary sword work and posture maintenance.”

Good job Date and Saeko! Now then, let’s get to the main feature…the photo shoot! This week, Ness had a vision of action, blood, gore, and GAR. She decided it was time to take a turn for the intense after the breezy summer shoot. This photoshoot is aptly named the Intensity photoshoot, and you can bet the poor trap nearly risked her life taking these photos. In fact, you probably shouldn’t get too close either…
